I believe in the acceptance it brings,
The sense of belonging,
The knowledge it provides,
The emotions that flood you,
The hardships that come to you,
Anger, stress, relief.
But I don't believe that it's just a club.
I believe in the effort that is put forth,
I believe in the encouragement that is given,
I believe in the people that provide it,
Teachers, friends, castmates.
And I believe in the establishment that is Carroll Drama Club.
Carroll's Drama Club is open to all Carroll Students in grades 9 - 12. One of the largest groups at Carroll, this diverse group is comprised of students with different interests, cultures, and ages. There is something for everyone!
A Theatre. An Audience, waiting, low lights, soft voices mingling - anticipation. Music, chords adjusted, lungs filled, keys tapped. Backstage utter. Stage movement, scenery in place, a shuffling of feet. Curtain opens, characters introduced. Audience attentive, laughing, listening. This is the reason that we unite- to bring the story to life.
We offer the opportunity to learn about acting, costumes, make-up, set construction, technical equipment, sound, lights, music, dance, choreography, directing and managing the stage. Workshops are available to learn new skills, trips are offered to see new places, and friends are made for a lifetime.
The Freedom Players earned 45 awards at the inaugural Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards for their productions in the 2018-19 academic year.
The entire cast and crew earned awards for Outstanding Musical: Oklahoma!, Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical: Oklahoma!, Outstanding Ensemble in a Play: M*A*S*H*, and Merit for a Play: M*A*S*H*. 27 students also earned Outstanding and Merit awards for individual performances and design work.
